Penden Cement Authority suffers dust emission release

Residents of Gomtu town in Samtse, Bhutan, say dust particles from the Penden Cement Authority Ltd's (PCAL) plant have been causing pollution.  Residents reported thick dust particles emitted from the plant during the lockdown. A complaint was lodged to the PCAL management. Penden Cement gear box failure sees output falter

Cement production at Penden Cement Authority Ltd (PCAL) in Gomtu, Samtse, Bhutan, was affected last month as a gearbox in one of the two coal mills broke down. The gearbox failed on 21 April. With demand for cement rising in Bhutan, two of the countries leading cement manufacturers have been unable to deliver product to their customers on time, according to local press reports. In Phuentsholing, cement agents have been complaining about delivery delays from Penden Cement Authority Ltd (PCAL).
